Haringey Library's Bengali Writers' Group meets once a month in Wood Green Central Library. The group session is attended by Bengali writers and people who are interested in literature. The range of activities during a session includes recitation of poems, reading, discussion, singing etc. It is one of Haringey Libraries, Archives and Museum Service 's few community reading groups launched in 2005 to encourage reading. By providing space and assigning a member of staff to co-ordinate and organise special events, Haringey Libraries, Arcives and Museum Service is promoting its services to the Bengali community in Haringey.
The group meets on the first Friday of every month 4 - 6:30pm in Wood Green Central Library's Gallery on the first floor
Most of the group members write in both Bengali and English. The group hopes that this web-site will encourage Bengali community in Haringey to use library resources and to participate in various library events.
Works of member writers can be accessed from the members page. This web-site attempts to publish both Bengali version and its English translation. At the moment only poems are listed, but in future, the group hopes to include prose as well.
If you need any help to improve your creative writing in Bengali and English, the group members would be happy to help. Some members have already published their works in Bengali.
